Why Create Enhancing Communication, LLC? Find Out from the Source!
"Why did I create my own private practice for speech and language therapy services? Well, I have been in just about every setting possible (from my internship experiences to current school position) working as a speech-language pathologist. In each location I have felt that my role was always restricted or being dictated by others who were not SLPs themselves (and typically without a lot of knowledge for what I do). I was faced with the pressure to "be more efficient" so companies could make more money, limited in how often and how long I see people who truly need my services, limited in the types of approaches or services I could provide due to not being "allowed" (again, sometimes due to not making the desired amount of money for a company), restricted by red tape and specific guidelines which limited who would be able to receive services. The list of reasons goes on...
I became a Speech-Language Pathologist to help others. I want to help those who need me in any way I can to make them successful communicators. I don't want to waste my time on the phone with insurances, being told how I need to do my job by those who have little understanding of what I can provide, and not feel like I'm just "managing" a caseload due to large numbers of clients.
The most fulfilling part of my career was when I worked with clients and their families in an out-patient setting. I was able to provide therapy that was truly tailored to meet all of their needs. I was able to incorporate family members into sessions to show them how to work on speech and language skills at home. Through this type of approach to speech and language therapy, I was able to feel like I was truly providing my best to each client and their family. I saw each child I worked with make gains and "graduated" several from services in my short time at this setting.
I want to wake up every day looking forward to doing what I love without the pressure from an outside "manager" or company. I want know that what I am doing is providing the best service I possibly can, and know that I am truly improving the lives of my clients.
This all lead me to choosing to create my own private practice, Enhancing Communication LLC, private-pay only. This way I can provide what I believe to be the best service to my clients and continue to do so without restriction, red tape or any other limitation that would hinder me from giving all I have to offer."

"Your work is going to fill a large part of your life, and the only way to be truly satisfied is to do what you believe is great work. And the only way to do great work is to love what you do. If you haven't found it yet, keep looking. Don't settle. As with all matters of the heart, you'll know when you find it."
