Services

Enhancing Communication, LLC offers a range of speech, language, and orofacial myofunctional therapy services from screenings and evaluations to individualized  therapy services.

Screenings

Speech and language screenings are FREE and are completed in your home, daycare, or preschool/school location.

Group screenings are available for daycares and preschools.

Screenings are ideal for determining if your child is displaying the developmental skills needed for effective and efficient communication as well as whether or not further testing should be completed.

Evaluations

Comprehensive speech and language evaluations are available to identify if there are any areas of need that could be addressed with formal speech and/or language therapy services.

Evaluations also include an orofacial myofunctional exam if any areas of concern are noted during the initial intake and scheduling of this service.

Therapy Services

Speech therapy sessions are provided by an experienced Speech-Language Pathologist who travels to each clients' home. Services can be provided in other settings such as a daycare or school, but is dependent on that location's rules/regulations.

Services can address current speech therapy goals and objectives from a school's current Individualized Education Program (IEP) or current treatment plan.

Enhancing Communication is currently a Provider of Speech Therapy Services through the Jon Peterson Special Needs Scholarship. To learn more about eligibility, applying, or availability of services, please call (567)-218-0518.

Types of Therapy

Articulation Therapy: Services will target sound productions from isolation through conversational levels to improve the child's ability to be understood when speaking. If a child is not able to produce the correct sound(s) when speaking they might become frustrated, have difficulty sounding out words when reading, or have difficulty during writing tasks (i.e. spelling difficulties).

Receptive Language Therapy: Services will focus on understanding verbal and/or written language. This might include  understanding information or new concepts presented, understanding the meaning of words and how to use them,  identifying main ideas and details, and much more.

Expressive Language Therapy: Services will focus on using a variety of modalities such as verbal or written expression, gestures, sign, or augmentative and alternative communication (low or high tech communication devices) for your child to communicate their thoughts, wants, and needs.
Orofacial Myofunctional Therapy: Services will focus on addressing the atypical oral habits, chewing and swallowing patterns, and speech distortions that occur due to identified orofacial myofunctional disorders. These might include:

  • Thumb/finger/tongue sucking
  • Tongue thrust
  • Open mouth rest posture/mouth breathing
  • Other harmful oral habits

Description of Therapy Services

Therapy sessions are typically provided in the client's home (daycares and schools as permitted) and are either 30 or 60 minutes in length. Therapy sessions are $65 for each 30-minute session and $130 for each 60-minute session.

Parent/guardian education is a very important part of our therapy sessions. It gives parents and guardians the knowledge and tools to provide more opportunities to practice targeted skills. The time spent with both the child and parent/guardian will allow for the parent to ask specific questions, watch specific strategies demonstrated by the speech-language pathologist (SLP), and allow the parent(s)/guardian(s) to practice strategies while receiving feedback from the SLP. This will aid in making greater gains in speech and language goals and helping to carryover the learned skills from therapy sessions to every part of the child's day.

*Our services are Private Pay (self-pay) only. We accept cash, check, debit, credit, HSA and FSA cards.
We also accept payments through other sources such as the Jon Peterson Special Needs Scholarship or Project iAM Scholarship

Parents/guardians may be able to receive reimbursement from their insurance (through Out-of-Network) with the use of Superbills. Superbills are a detailed medical receipt that can be sent to insurances for the possibility of reimbursement.

The reason why Enhancing Communication, LLC only accepts private-pay is to ensure that therapy can begin right away (no pre-authorization needed and hence, very little to no wait time to begin services), services are provided one-on-one, services are based upon the client’s need (not just based upon academic impact such as in the school setting), the number of sessions is not determined by an outside organization (i.e. insurance company), and collaboration with a client’s school speech pathologist, specialists/other professionals, and family members can easily occur.
